Biggby Coffee:

Carves out a Niche in a Competitive Coffee Marketplace

Over the past few years, Biggby Coffee has been the newest addition to the coffee shop scene, and has not only worked hard to establish its presence in Bowling Green, but has also established itself amid the always competitive coffee shop environment in a college town. Biggby Coffee, located conveniently at 215 E. Wooster St., is owned and operated by Gary Dibble and his wife, Amy.

They opened their store July 15, 2014 in the new Market Square near the downtown on Wooster Street, Dibble said he chose to open a Biggby here in Bowling Green because he has been a resident for almost 20 years and has been a Biggby fanatic for over 10 years now. He thought Bowling Green was the perfect location because of all the college students. “Business has been growing and this is what I need to see, we have a long road ahead,” Dibble said. Since Biggby has been open, he said there are some people at the University and also community who still don’t know about the coffee shop, and it is his job to get them into the store and experience the quality food and service they offer.

“I want them to experience all of the great flavors and the customer service we provide,” Dibble said. There is a nice blend of both students and locals who go to Biggby, Dibble said. He said they have the “regulars” who he will see everyday or multiple times a week. “I’m not quite a regular at Biggby, however every time that I have been here the customer service has been great…the Mango Crème Freeze smoothie would probably have to be my favorite,” said student Jacob Genzel.

There are more than 130 lattes at Biggby and a multitude of other menu items, from cold beverages to baked goods; there is something for everyone. Dibble said at Biggby they have a philosophy, they always want to ask themselves, “Does every customer leave the store in a better mood than when they arrive?” He said this takes more than a great latte to please them; they need to have excellent customer service and be able to correct any mistakes. If his store can accomplish this, then they have succeeded in their mission, Dibble said.
